Digital Life

My Canon Powershot A70 is working now. I guess it was the batteries that I was using. They are the Rayovac Rechargeable Nimh. They worked fine until vacation. That or my camera got wet from the cold weather. I don't know what happened. I am just glad it is working. I almost went to Office Depot and bought the Powershot A75. I am glad I don't have too.

I win

I made a bid on ebay for a Microsoft Fingerprint reader and won. After 11 days I had not received my item. I sent emails and even tried to call the seller. Nothing. When I made the bid the guy had 100% positive feedback. After 11 days that went down. So I got scammed on ebay. I felt cheated and robbed. Which I was. I alerted paypal on what happen. And after 30 days of not getting a response from the seller I got my money back. So I guess I won.

Rangers, fans scuffle in Oakland

As many of you know there was a fight between the fans and a Texas Ranger in Oakland at the baseball game last night. Frank Francisco hoisted a folding chair into the stands, striking a woman and breaking her nose. He was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery. As a fan of the Texas Rangers this conduct saddens me. I think he should be suspended. The bullpen is very close to the fans. So virbal abuse is probably very high. This is a problem at Oakland and in Finway. It is sad. Because it was really a shocker of a game. It is sad that this has happened. A Statement from Tom Hicks. (Link includes video)

Texas Rangers Win

The Rangers game was great fun. I forgot how much fun going to a baseball game was. The last time I went to a Rangers game was on August 23, 1997. I sat in section 332 row 22 seat 18. They played against the Chicogo White Sox. I can't remember if they won or not. I wonder if there is a way to find out? I took some pictures that are on my moblog. I took two panorama pictures which you can click on below. The Rangers played against the Baltimore Orioles. The final score was 6-4.

I have decided to combine my two blogs Jim's tech news and Jim's blog into one blog. It will make things easier. My new 120 GB hard drive came yesterday. I was running out of room on my hard drive. I had to uninstall programs to just to make room. Well, not anymore. I had to partition the hard drive. The first time around I messed it up. But I figured out what I did wrong and it works now. We are having a revival at my church and it is going very well. Work is going good. I wish I could find more though.

I want to go back to Teen Mania to be in the CCM (Center of Creative Media) program. They produce the shows for ATF and all of Teen Mania's videos that they use for missions and extreme camps. I would be a GI (graduate Intern) and it would be for two years. But the program cost $1500 dollars a month. And I don't know how that is going to happen. The program is almost like going to Full Sail. And it cost about the same. But Full Sail is in Flordia.

I went Wednesday and saw the movie Spider-Man 2. I thought it was a great movie. They had alot of surprises in this movie. Stuff that you would think that they would not do. The story line was excellent and very well thought out. The acting was very good. There is one scene where Peter is trying to save a little girl from a building that is on fire and he almost falls through the floor and the little girl helps him up. It did not look right. A little girl would not have the strength to pull him up. The special effects were extremely good. Go see it. I added Googles Adsense to my website. I don't control the ads. Some of them are crazy. Friendships, Fun, & Hard Work

For the past two weeks I was a summer volunteer at Teen Mania Ministries. I was a intern at the Honor Academy in August 99-2000. I just wanted to go back and help out. They are having Global Expeditions and Extreme Camps during the summer and needed the help. I had a good time. I made some awesome friends that I will never forget. Continued: I also got to see some bands while I was there. I saw Kutless, John Reuben, and Sanctus Real. I took some pictures which are on my moblog.

The Friday Four

I went out tonight with my friends on their new boat. I could not fish because I had to have a fishing license. I will get one later on. It was so much fun. Out of the five of us only one caught 3 fish. He threw them back because they were small. He had one of those devices that tells where the fish are. It was so cool. It was kind of stormy when we got there. It was lighting. And at night the lighting was really awesome to watch.

I will be gone for 2 weeks starting today. Talk to you later. Bye.

Bryans Friday Four

What are your thoughts on the G4/TechTV Merge?: I think it is terrible. They have kept all the crappy shows and canceled good shows like CFH, Techlive. The Screen Savers will continue but it won't be the same without Patrick and Leo as host. Plus they have fired all of TechTV staff. The people that made TechTV so great. Update: The G4techTV.com website is nothing but crap.

Do you think the network will get better/worse ratings and why?: I don't think the network will have good ratings. They have added all the crap that was on TechTV. And how many gaming shows can you have until you get bored? I hope they atleast keep TSS like it is now.

What are your thoughts on Leoville.tv: I think if he keeps it like the style of Call For Help then it will be ok. I don't think charging people for it is right. I have dial-up and it probably won't do me any good to subscribe.

What's your favorite ice cream flavor?: Mint Chocolate Chip.

I got a new mouse finally. The plastic on my old mouse got damaged and the mouse was not usable. I got a Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse with Tilt wheel. My old mouse had five buttons. So you could go back and forward through webpages. I really liked having those buttons. But this is my first wireless mouse so I am happy with it. My next purchase will be a 120 GB hard drive that uses firewire. I am running out of room on my 10 GB hard drive. It is very sad.

Six Flags

I am going to Six Flags tomorrow. I can't wait to ride the Titan, Batman Ride, and Mr. Freeze. Our new attraction for this year is SpongeBob SquarePants The Ride 4-D. I don't know why they call it the ride. All you do is seat in a theater and the chairs move. It is so stupid. You would think that being the flagship park that we would get a new roller coaster. No, not this year. I will try to take pictures. I am not sure if I want to take my digital camera yet. I probably won't. I thought about going to Wal-Mart and getting one of those cheap $20 dollar digital cameras. But, I would only be able to take about 52 pictures on the 8 Megs that it holds. With my Canon I can take 1300 pictures and video.

Got a virus

I just got the I-Worm/Netsky.B virus from someone I did not know. My AVG Anti-Virus software found it and removed the attachment. It put the attachment in the virus vault. I guess this proves that the free editon of AVG does work. I did run a complete test and it did not find anything. I think I am safe.

Leo Laporte is back on TechTV!

Yes, you heard right. Leo is returning to TechTV to do the show Call For Help. The petition that was going around has generated 3328 Total Signatures. That does not even account for all the emails that Vulcan and Comcast received. This is a good thing. I just hope that from all the show of support for Leo and Call For Help that they keep the show on the air.

Because of the Presidential News Conference the TV show 24 was moved to Sunday, April 18th. Check your own local listings. About this episode: President David Palmer tells Jack that a top CTU agent is to be killed; at the hotel, Michelle offers a peaceful ending to those infected with the virus

Day of Praise

Update for my post on April 08, 2004. Tonight we fixed my friends Gator. It was his dad that did most of the work. If you look at it you can't tell it had been wrecked. He pushed the metal frame back into place and fixed the light. He even fixed the plastic hood. It was torn up. No more cracks in it. It really is amazing. My friend took pictures of before and after. I will try to get them. His camera is a Sony. And it uses a memory stick. I don't have a reader for it. UPDATE: The Gator sold at the auction.

Shocked

I can't believe it. TechTV has asked Chris Pirillo to be a guest host for Call For Help. I just don't believe it. A loss of words...

Day of Hell

Today has been the day of hell. The steering in my friends John Deere Gator locked up and I hit a tree. The front is all torn up. They were really nice when I went and told them. But, I feel bad. I can't afford to fix it or replace it. It just has been a bad day.

iPod stuff

Here are some accessories that I want for my iPod that I probably will never get.

1. iPod Remote and Earbuds - With this I can fast forward, rewind, play/pause, and control the volume while the iPod is in my pocket.
2. Belkin Battery Pack - The battery on the iPod is not the greatest.
3. iPod Dock - I want this more then anything. I can charge and sync in this stylish dock.
4. Sony Car Cassette Adapter - So I can listen to my iPod in the car.
5. Belkin Auto Charger w/Audio for iPod - So I don't use the battery up when in the car.
6. Belkin TuneDok Car Holder - Need a safe place to put my iPod in the car.
7. eXo2 Skin for 10/15 GB iPod - For Protection.
You can get all this stuff cheap off ebay.

Jeopardy

One of my mothers family members is going to be on Jeopardy this week. Her name is Becky Galipeau. If you go to Jeopardy.com and click on "This week on Jeopardy" you can see a small video. I can't tell you how much she won. You will just have to watch. I believe her show will air on March 31st.

Ripley's

I went to Ripley's Believe It Or Not today. I had the best time. That place is so cool. Look at my moblog for pictures. The world's tallest man was so cool. I took a picture (not in moblog) of me next to him and I was so small. And there was a real peace of coal from the Titanic ship. Plus look at the giant lobster. And there was a vest made out of human hair. This place was so cool. You should go to one if it is near you.

Good-bye Leo

Leo is stepping down has host of The Screen Savers. He started the show 6 years ago. I have learned so much stuff about computers and technology from watching TSS. It won't be the same without Leo. But he will be on Call For Help still.

Music and Technology

A new band that I like is Falling Up. They are awesome. I went to the store today to buy Falling Up and they were sold out. I went to Wal-Mart and their CDs are all messed up. You can't find anything. I am starting to think that I should have gotten the RCA Lyra Audio/Video Jukebox. Instead of getting my iPod. I went to Best Buy today and got to play around with the Lyra and really liked it. I have so many digital pictures and videos that it would be great to have it stored in one place that I can view on the go. The reviews for the RCA Lyra A/V jukebox are mixed. Some like it and some don't. I really like Microsoft's new iPod killer that is coming out. But the price is crazy. And I am not sure if you need a Media Center PC?

Movie

I finally got to see the movie The Passion of Christ tonight. A friends mother got us some tickets. I went with 3 friends. I thought it was very good. It was very violent. But it should be and was in real life.

ER

My mother got some food caught in her throat tonight and we had to go to the ER. They had to do surgery. They put a fiber optical scope down her throat. The surgery went fine and she is ok. They wanted to keep her over night just to be on the safe side. I am tired. Good Night.

The Mini is not too bad

I have to change what I said about the iPod mini. I said that I do not like it. Well, after seeing it and hearing what everyone is saying about it. I like it. I like the fact that the buttons are on the wheel and under your thumb. It just would make it easier to navigate and control. The buttons on the regular iPod are very sensitive. I often press them and don't mean too. I can't always have the hold button on. And the fact that it does not get scratched easily like the other one. But, I am very happy with my 15 GB iPod.

Friday, February 20, 2004

Belkin

I got a Belkin TuneCast Mobile FM Transmitter tonight for my iPod and any other device that can transmit sound. It works pretty good. I can finally listen to my iPod in the car.

pPod

The pPod is a MP3 player that makes the touchscreen on your pocket pc look like (and act like!) an iPod, and that's designed to be thumbable. It works pretty good.

Tip The Top

I won a free song in the Pepsi iTunes Music Giveaway. I tilt the bottle at just the right angle and could make out the words "one free". I knew that it was a winner. So I bought the bottle. I can't believe how easy that was. Here is what I did.

Start your own war

You can now own your own fighter jet. Better than that you can own one of the Blue Angels. Just for the low cost of US $2,000,000.00. Better hurry it will go quick. I have found a new program that I really like it is called Pluck. It is a RSS reader. It integrates right into Internet Explorer. It sits on the left hand column of Internet Explorer (in the same place where Favorites or History appear if activated). It is still in beta. It does not support OPML. Which I wish it did. But it has a very clean easy to understand interface.

Visited States

I have visited 27 states (52%). I have visited more but I can't remember. On my way to Oregon I was in a car accident. The 15 passenger van that I was in hit some ice on the road and rolled 4 times and I got ejected. So I really don't remember alot. But, I probably have been to more states then this. The website that the image is linked to is down.

Remember

On February 1st, 2003 the space shuttle Columbia burned up on re-entry. My mother heard the boom sound. It shook the windows in my house. You see I live in one of the towns where it fell. I never thought that I would ever see the space shuttle in pieces on the ground. But I did. It was truly a sad day. I don't think I have ever seen so many police, fire trucks and news helicopters in my town before. Please don't forget the seven brave astronauts that lost their lives on this day. I don't know what else to say.

Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. James 4:14 NIV

Add RSS Headlines to your Weblog

Ok this is cool. It allows you to insert RSS feeds into your weblog. I just added one to my tech news site.

iPod

I got my iPod yesterday at Best Buy. They had the 15 Gig. This thing is so light and thin. The touch sensitive buttons are so cool. I barely touch them and they respond. Firewire is so fast. It transferred all of my music in iTunes in under 20 seconds. The back already has scratches on it. That’s ok. I knew about that when I decided to get it that the back would get scratched easily. And figure prints show up on it too. I am very happy with it. This truly is a very cool device.

RSS Feeds for iTunes Music Store

The iTunes Music Store is now offering customizable RSS Newsfeeds for use in newsreaders such as Ranchero's NetNewsWire. You can create feeds based on your preferences of type of music and which list you want to watch, such as New Releases, Top Songs, Top Albums, and more.

Nothing to blog

There is nothing to blog about. I am just waiting for next week. I get my iPod. But, I am not sure that the stores will have the 15 Gig model yet. So I am not sure what I am going to do. I might have to wait longer or get it off the Apple store online. At least if I do get it online I get free engraving. The 365 Project that I was working on is dead.

iPod Mini

Apple today has announced that they are moving the 10GB iPod up to 15GB with the same price of $299. They also just announced the iPod Mini. 4GB hard drive holds up to 70 hours of music. Touch-sensitive Click Wheel. It will sell for $249. It will hold 1,000 songs and it is about the size of a business card. It has a dock and armband. It also will come in colors. Available in the US in February and worldwide in April. Note: I do not like the iPod Mini. For $50 dollars more I can get more storage and all the accessories that are already out for the iPod. Update: I like the iPod mini.

Hard Drive

I have 10 GB hard drive and it is almost full. I only have 700 MB free to use. Is that sad or what? I wish I had the money to get a larger hard drive. But I don't and probably never will. I have alot of digital pictures and digital video. I do alot of video capturing. I have a CD-RW but it is a peace of junk. It only works when it wants to. My dream system if I could have one would be:

2.4 GHz
512 MB memory
120 GB Hard Drive
DVD-RW/CD-RW
17"inch LCD
Nvidia 128MB Video Card with TV-Out
5.1 Surround Sound Card

New Year

Happy New Year Everyone! I have decided to start a project that I am going to take one picture for everyday in 2004. I have setup a moblog here. I hope I can do this. Should I explain what the picture is? Or should I just leave it blank?
